The ninth installment of the "Off Trail" series is a collaboration with Portland brewery "Culmination Brewing"! "Kriek in the Barrel" has an exquisite balance of fruitiness and funkiness, and will be available from Saturday, February 20th.

Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. is collaborating with Portland brewery Culmination Brewing to create the ninth beer in its innovative Off Trail brand, Kriek in the Barrel. The beer will be available for general release on Saturday, February 20th, with pre-orders starting at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 9th on the official online store.

Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two major brands "Far Yeast" and "KAGUA," "Off Trail" is a brand that challenges new possibilities in craft beer. The name comes from the image of going "off trail" - a path that is not paved, setting itself apart from the "well-paved road." The brand brews unique beers using barrel-aging techniques, which involve aging beer in barrels previously used for wine, sake, and whiskey, as well as seasonal fruits such as grapes and peaches, and local specialties.

This marks the fourth collaboration with Culmination Brewing. This beer is the latest addition to the wild yeast Brettanomyces to the wort of KRIEK IN THE FLESH , which was previously released in June 2020 and was made using the kettle souring method* . It was then fermented and aged in oak barrels for eight months.

"KRIEK IN THE FLESH," released in 2020, won a silver medal in the Fruit Flavored Beer category at the Asia Beer Championship 2020. The barrel-aged beer "Kriek in the Barrel," released in 2019, also won a bronze medal at the Asia Beer Championship, earning international acclaim.

*Kettle souring is a method of making sour ale by lactic acid fermenting the wort in a boiling kettle before the main fermentation to give the beer a sour taste.

Third release: Kriek in the flesh (Asia Beer Championship 2020 Fruit Flavored Beer Silver Award winner)

After a gentle acidity, the vibrant cherry fruit aroma is complemented by the oak and leathery aromas unique to barrel-aged beer, resulting in a well-balanced finish. The light, fruity flavor and slightly funky aroma go perfectly with steak with mushrooms or roast chicken. Be sure to try this pairing, which is something you won't often experience with regular beer.

"Kriek in the Barrel" will be available nationwide from Saturday, February 20th, and pre-orders will begin on our online store from 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 9th.
