Far Yeast Brewing was one of the first in Japan to put the latest hop theory and cutting-edge brewing techniques into practice, and will begin selling "Far Yeast Hop Frontier -Juicy IPA-" as a standard product from early July, venturing into new territory for the trendy Juicy IPA style. Taking a scientific approach to maximizing the aromatic components of hops, this Juicy IPA *1 is bursting with fruity and tropical aromas .
Juicy IPA is a beer style that has rapidly become a trend not only around the world but also in Japan's craft beer scene due to its fruity, juicy taste with little bitterness. Far Yeast Brewing's Hop Frontier - Juicy IPA (hereinafter referred to as Hop Frontier) was the result of being one of the first in Japan to try out the latest hop theory and advanced brewing techniques that support this style.
*1 Juicy IPA:
This style is defined as "Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale" in the American Brewers Association's Beer Style Guidelines. It focuses on bringing out the "juicy flavor" of hops and is characterized by its cloudy appearance. It is currently one of the most popular styles among avid craft beer fans around the world. Despite being a new beer style defined in 2018, it was the category with the most entries in both 2019 and 2020 at the Great American Beer Festival, the most prestigious beer tasting event in the United States.

Hop Frontier carefully selects hop varieties, focusing on "survivables *2 ," compounds that survive the brewing process and contribute to the aroma of the finished beer . YCH developed this new hop product after several years of research into survivables. It uses four types of hops and one hop product, centered around TRI-2304CR, the latest hop variety, Talus, which is being used in Japan for the first time. TRI-2304CR maximizes solubility (ease of dissolving in liquid), allowing the final beer to retain its fruity, ripe, and juicy aroma. Tarus, a variety developed at YCH's hop farm, is expected to deliver a dynamic, fruity aroma when combined with TRI-2304CR.
*2 What is Survivables?
These compounds, such as monoterpene alcohols, hop-derived esters, and thiols, have a low sensory threshold and are relatively resistant to evaporation. They remain strong in the final beer product even after the brewing process, delivering a powerful aroma impact. Scott Janish, author of "The New IPA: Scientific Guide to Hop Aroma and Flavor," has introduced a methodology that maximizes the use of survivables to effectively extract aromas on the hot side, drawing attention.
Our two main brands have long been the "KAGUA" series, which was launched at our founding in 2011, and the "Far Yeast" Tokyo series, which began production at our Genryu Brewery in Yamanashi Prefecture in 2017. "Far Yeast Hop Frontier -Juicy IPA-" is positioned as a new product under the "Far Yeast" brand, and is the first beer developed with the aim of becoming a regular product in six years since the launch of "Far Yeast Tokyo IPA" in 2015. While maintaining the core of the "Far Yeast" brand—a clean, refined flavor and quality that satisfies both beer enthusiasts and novices—it was released in February 2021 with the aim of delivering a beer that captures the latest trends in craft beer , allowing many people to enjoy it easily . We have brewed it twice so far, and both sold out immediately, receiving positive feedback from the market. Based on various feedback from the first batch, we made changes to the recipe for the second batch to achieve an aroma and flavor closer to our original target. We have determined that we can brew this beer with consistent quality, and have decided to brew and sell it year-round as a standard Far Yeast product .
"Far Yeast Hop Fronter -Juicy IPA-" will begin shipping to liquor stores and restaurants nationwide from early July, and orders will begin on the online store from 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 15th (shipments will begin sequentially from Friday, June 25th).
