[Press Release] "KAGUA" now on sale at Yokohama Takashimaya and Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store

Nippon Craft Beer Co., Ltd. will begin selling its Japanese-flavored ale, "KAGUA," at Yokohama Takashimaya from November 20, 2013, and at Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store from December 6, 2013.

KAGUA was created with the concept of "a fragrant fragrance that complements the Japanese dining table," and since its launch at Matsuya Ginza in October 2012, it has been strategically expanding into department stores, including Sogo Kobe in August 2013, and now Yokohama Takashimaya and Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store. Going forward, we aim to expand sales in stores that are highly compatible with the KAGUA concept and offer high-quality value to customers.

To mark the launch of sales at Yokohama Takashimaya and Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store, tasting sales of "KAGUA" will be held in both stores. At these events, customers will be introduced to the characteristics of "KAGUA" directly and be able to experience the taste for themselves. Similar tasting sales promotions will be actively carried out at both stores, including these two stores, in November and December, when demand for gifts is at its peak.

We will continue to work hard to ensure that more customers can enjoy the high-quality value that "KAGUA" offers.

  • About KAGUA, the Japanese-flavored ale This flagship brand of Nippon Craft Beer Co., Ltd. was launched in March 2012 with the idea of "making beer that complements Japanese cuisine enjoyable for people all over the world." The original recipe (mixture) was designed based on the concept of "a fragrant aroma that complements Japanese cuisine," and is brewed at a partner brewery in Belgium using yuzu and sansho pepper, two herbs that are symbols of Japan.

There are two varieties in the lineup: "Blanc," a light-colored, top-fermented beer made with wheat, and "Rouge," a dark-colored, top-fermented beer made with roasted malt.A major feature of these beers is that they can be enjoyed with different dishes, just like white and red wines.

Our products are sold in famous and popular restaurants that have been awarded stars in the Michelin Guide, as well as luxury hotels and restaurants in Hong Kong and Singapore.

*Since "KAGUA" uses yuzu and sansho pepper, it is classified as a happoshu (low-malt beer) under Japan's liquor tax law.
*Although it is a happoshu, the malt ratio and manufacturing method are the same as beer, and it is taxed at the same rate as beer. Furthermore, according to the standards of many countries, including Belgium, where it is produced, "KAGUA" is classified as beer, so it is sold as beer in overseas markets.
