Far Yeast Brewing will be releasing the 47th beer from its innovative brand, Off Trail, titled Off Trail Forbidden Land, in limited quantities from Tuesday, June 25th.

Enjoy the unique character of barrel-aged beer and the unique blending
Off Trail is a brand that is challenging new possibilities for craft beer, and they use microorganisms other than beer yeast to create unique beers with rich and complex flavors using a barrel-aging method that involves aging the beer in wooden barrels. The finished product changes depending on the barrel and the environment in which it is aged, so no two beers are exactly alike, making for a unique, one-of-a-kind flavor.
Our brewery's barrel room always has around 80 barrel-aged beers stored, and we select and blend the best combination of barrels from these to create our final product.
Some barrels are too stimulating and unique on their own, but by balancing the beers with each other and sometimes combining them with fruits, herbs, spices, etc., they become more profound and complex, coming together. This latest release, " Forbidden Land ," is made using barrel-aged beers that have been aged for up to 20 months, and makes the most of their distinctive acidity.

The challenge was to bring out the best in the base beer, whose vinegar flavor was brought out by long-term aging.
The base beer blend for " Forbidden Land " is a 20-month-aged Sour Blonde Ale and a 15-month-aged Wheat Strong Ale. The Blonde Ale was selected for its vinegary acidity with hints of apple. To add depth and complexity to the body, a Wheat Strong Ale was combined with a cinnamon-flavored barrel and a Wheat Strong Ale aged in a barrel with a strong oak flavor. Finally, apple puree was added to create a juicier finish. The soft flavors of apple and cinnamon, the spiciness of vinegar, and the tannins of oak intertwine in a complex way.

"Off Trail Forbidden Land " will be available for purchase in limited quantities on the Far Yeast Brewing official web store from 12:00 on Tuesday, June 25th. Shipments to beer bars, restaurants, and liquor stores nationwide will begin on Wednesday, June 26th, and purchases on the official web store will begin on Tuesday, July 2nd .

[What is Off Trail?]
Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two brands "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast," "Off Trail" is a brand that explores new possibilities in craft beer. Its name evokes the image of venturing off the paved road and forging ahead on unpaved paths. By using the barrel-aging method, which involves aging beer in barrels previously used for wine, sake, and whiskey, Off Trail strives to brew beer that utilizes microorganisms other than brewer's yeast. Barrel-aged base beers develop a strong character due to the environment inside the barrel, and natural chemical reactions create rich, complex aromas. By blending seasonal fruits like grapes and peaches and regional specialties to match the characteristics of the base beer, Off Trail strives to create unique flavors.
