To commemorate the 4th anniversary of the launch of Off Trail, a brand that challenges itself to brew innovative beers, we will be selling a limited edition beer called "Off Trail Passing the Torch" from Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

"Off Trail" was launched in November 2019 as a brand that challenges new possibilities in craft beer. Using microorganisms other than beer yeast, they create unique beers with rich and complex flavors by using a barrel-aging method in which the beer is aged in wooden barrels. The end result changes depending on the barrel and the environment in which it is aged, so the appeal is that no two beers are the same, resulting in a unique, once-in-a-lifetime flavor.
"Off Trail Passing the Torch," released to celebrate the brand's fourth anniversary, is a balanced sour red ale that's been barrel-aged for nine months, blended with spiced dry and wheat strong beers. Accents include cinnamon and dried dates. Additionally, wood chips from Mizunara oak, grown in Tanbayama Village, a neighboring village of Kosuge Village in Yamanashi Prefecture where the brewery is located, are charred and infused into the beer. Beneath the warm cinnamon flavor, you can sense a subtle smoky aroma and the tannins of Mizunara oak.
The name "Passing the Torch" means "passing the baton to a successor." Richard, who has led the Off Trail team since the brand's inception, is returning to the United States, and project leadership will be handed over to our brewer, Aoki. This product was named after the fact that it will be the last product blended by the two of them together.
It is a warm and heartfelt product that is fitting for the fourth anniversary and the start of a new journey for Off Trail.

[What is Off Trail?]
Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two brands "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast," "Off Trail" is a brand that explores new possibilities in craft beer. Its name comes from the image of forging ahead on unpaved roads, setting itself apart from well-paved roads. The beer is brewed using the barrel-aging method, whereby beer is aged in barrels previously used for wine, sake, and whiskey, in order to develop rich and complex aromas by utilizing microorganisms other than brewer's yeast. The brand explores unique flavors by blending seasonal fruits such as grapes and peaches, as well as regional specialties, to match the characteristics of the base beer.
