A new product from the Far Yeast Brewing Yamanashi Support Project! Smoked Helles Lager "Far Yeast ARCADIA" made with malt smoked with peach and cherry branches. Limited release on Tuesday, August 1st.

The Yamanashi Support Project, which collaborates with Yamanashi businesses and producers to promote the local attractions through beer, will be selling a new product, Far Yeast ARCADIA, in limited quantities from Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The product uses malt smoked with thinned wood from peach and cherry trees grown in the prefecture.

■Collaboration with "Smoked House Hibiki" that utilizes thinning wood from local peach and cherry orchards

As you all know, Yamanashi Prefecture is the fruit kingdom, boasting the highest peach production in Japan. It also ranks third in cherry production, with both varieties cultivated in abundance in the Kofu Basin. When pruning peach and cherry trees during farming, the remaining branches are often simply burned in the fields. With the aging of agricultural workers, this not only becomes a burden, but also poses an environmental issue due to the carbon dioxide emissions. Hibiki Smoked Wood, located in Minami-Alps City, Yamanashi Prefecture, utilizes this "thinned wood" as smoking material, developing locally-based smoked products and working to revitalize the region .

This time, we have teamed up with Smoked Beer Shop Hibiki to brew a gentle, fragrant Smoked Helles Lager, using malt, the main ingredient in beer, smoked with chips from thinnings of peach and cherry trees.

A light, refreshing beer that makes use of the sweet, gentle aroma of fruit trees.

Our company's base is the "Belgo-Japanese" style, and most of the beers we brew are ale-style, but this time we aimed to recreate a lager-style "smoked beer" that one of our brewers once tried and was amazed by the taste, making him love beer even more.

When you hear the term "smoked beer," you might imagine a strong, fragrant aroma, but what we were aiming for was a gentle, unobtrusive smoked aroma that wouldn't overpower the base lager. When we consulted with Smoked Beer Shop Hibiki about smoking malt, we learned that they develop products using local thinned wood such as peaches and cherries, and that these fruit-bearing trees produce a sweet, gentle aroma, unlike beech and oak, which have a strong aroma. This led to the realization of the flavor we were aiming for and, coincidentally, the birth of a new product for the "Yamanashi-esque Product = Yamanashi Support Project."

The refreshing sweetness of the malt and the subtle aroma, along with the pleasant carbonation that doesn't overwhelm them, make this a beer that is easy to drink and can be downed in no time.

In spring, the Kofu Basin is described as "Arcadia," as the entire area is enveloped in pink with peach and other fruit blossoms. Inspired by this scene, the label design depicts a soft, fragrant fragrance as a soft, pink smoke rising up.

While American-style IPAs remain popular in Japan's craft beer scene, there is also an increasing number of hardcore beer fans seeking lagers, and in response, unique lager-style beers are appearing on the market. This product is recommended for those who want to discover a new side to beer.

" Far Yeast ARCADIA " will be available for purchase in limited quantities on the Far Yeast Brewing official web store from 12:00 on Tuesday, August 1st. Purchases made on the official web store will be shipped sequentially from Monday, August 7th to beer bars, restaurants, and liquor stores nationwide.

The official web store will be selling a limited edition set of 20 pairs of beer and smoked chips made from a blend of peach and cherry thinnings, which are actually used to smoke the malt.

In addition, prior to the first shipment, the beer will be pre-opened on Tuesday, August 1st at the currently ongoing " Craft Beer Fest Kofu 2023. "
