West Coast Brewingと2回目のコラボ ほうじ茶ラテフレーバーの樽熟成サワーアンバーエール 『Off Trail Tea Time』6月27日(火) 販売開始

Second collaboration with West Coast Brewing: "Off Trail Tea Time," a barrel-aged sour amber ale with a roasted green tea latte flavor, goes on sale June 27th (Tuesday)

Off Trail, a brand that strives to create innovative beers, will be collaborating with West Coast Brewing (headquarters: Shizuoka Prefecture, representative: Baston Derek ) to release a limited edition Off Trail Tea Time on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

"Off Trail" was launched in 2019 as a beer that challenges new possibilities in craft beer. Using barrel aging techniques that utilize microorganisms other than brewer's yeast, this project continues to brew unique and innovative beers that cannot be reproduced, drawing a line between the "well-paved road" and forging ahead on "off trails" (i.e., unpaved roads).

"Tea Time," the second in the label revamp series, is a collaboration with West Coast Brewing, a hugely popular brewery in Mochimune, Shizuoka. The first collaboration was in 2020 with " Off Trail Travers ," making this their second collaboration. At the Shizuoka Craft Beer & Whisky Fair 2022, hosted by Derek of West Coast Brewing in October last year, the Off Trail brand set up a stand alone booth for the first time, leading to new interactions with core craft beer fans and brewers from other breweries. This latest collaboration is the result of that interaction.

After last year's Shizuoka Craft Beer & Whisky Fair 2022, members of West Coast Brewing visited Far Yeast Brewing's Genryu brewery in Kosuge Village, where they sampled the base beers ready for blending and expanded on their ideas. The sour red ale and sour blonde ale, each aged for 16 months in red wine oak barrels, were paired with roasted green tea, a secondary ingredient that West Coast Brewing had always wanted to use. Vanilla beans were also added to further enhance the flavor.

It has the acidity and funkiness that is characteristic of Off Trail, but at a subdued level, and the roasted green tea, vanilla, and oak barrel flavor from the base beer give it nuances like chocolate and cocoa.

Hop Dude meets Barrel meets Tea, making this product reminiscent of a roasted green tea latte.

"Off Trail Tea Time" will be available for purchase on the Far Yeast Brewing online store from Tuesday, June 27th, with shipments starting Wednesday, June 28th.

[About West Coast Brewing]
Originating from Mochimune, Shizuoka City, they started brewing in 2019. The brewery was renovated from a fish processing plant located in a corner of Mochimune Fishing Port, a thriving whitebait fishing port, designed by the owner and architect Derek Baston.

They use high-quality natural groundwater to brew their beer. Their goal is to create beer from America, the home of craft beer and the owner's hometown. They brew a variety of styles of beer with a strong hop aroma, and currently release two to three new varieties every week.

[What is Off Trail?] Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two brands "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast," "Off Trail" is a brand that explores new possibilities in craft beer. Its name comes from the image of forging ahead on unpaved roads, setting itself apart from well-paved roads. The beer is brewed using the barrel-aging method, whereby beer is aged in barrels previously used for wine, sake, and whiskey, in order to develop rich and complex aromas by utilizing microorganisms other than brewer's yeast. The brand explores unique flavors by blending seasonal fruits such as grapes and peaches, as well as regional specialties, to match the characteristics of the base beer.
