Far Yeast Brewing will release "Far Yeast Peach Haze" (hereafter "Peach Haze"), made with peaches from Peach Senka Yamashita, a peach farm in Yamanashi City, Yamanashi Prefecture, on Wednesday, June 1st. Pre-orders will begin on our online store from 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 24th.
■The popular "Peach Haze" has become a staple item every spring and summer
Peach Haze was launched as the first product in the Yamanashi Support Project, which was launched in July 2020 in collaboration with local producers in Yamanashi, where the brewery is located, to promote the charm of Yamanashi along with the beer, amid a decline in tourism due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It sold out immediately at the pre-order stage, generating a lot of buzz.
Due to its popularity, it was brewed again last year in 2021. Approximately 1,000 kg of peaches were used to brew twice the amount of the previous year, but once again, reservations were sold out.
Peach beer is popular among craft beer fans and is brewed by a variety of breweries. Starting this year, we have decided to position "Peach Haze" as a spring/summer staple product and continue to brew and sell it, with the aim of delivering delicious peaches from Yamanashi, a major peach-producing region, to our fans every year.
This year, our third year, we will be brewing twice a year, in April and July, to meet demand and increase our production volume even more than last year.
■ Utilizing the peaches of Yamashita Peach Specialty
"Peach Haze" is a hazy-style fruit pale ale made with plenty of peaches from Yamanashi City's peach farm, "Peach Senka Yamashita," with approximately 50% of the ingredients being peaches. These peaches are rejected peaches that cannot be sold on the general market due to reasons such as poor appearance.
Peach Senka Yamashita is also focusing on sixth-sector industrialization, processing rejected peaches into juice and gelato for sale. For the first batch, 6,000 liters of "Peach Haze" was brewed using 1,000 kg of peaches harvested in 2021 and frozen for processing. The second batch is scheduled to be brewed in July using peaches harvested this year.
■ Fruit pale ale with a fragrant peach aroma
The hops used are "Mosaic," which has a tropical aroma that brings out the sweet fruit aroma, and "Strata," which has a grassy aroma like tropical fruits, fresh berries, and herbs. The two types of hops further enhance the peach aroma, spreading a rich aroma.
This fruit pale ale has a balanced blend of gentle peach aroma, refreshing herbal aroma, and ester aroma, and has a smooth, nectar-like mouthfeel and gentle carbonation that makes it a pleasant drink.
The sweetness is reduced during the fermentation process, resulting in a dry finish while still retaining the peach aroma. Recommended for fruit beer lovers as well as those who don't like overly sweet fruit beers.
Peach Haze is available at our online store, liquor stores, and restaurants nationwide. Starting in mid-June, it will also be available at La Pesca, a peach farm cafe run on the premises of Peach Senka Yamashita.
We will continue to work with producers and businesses in Yamanashi Prefecture to deliver a variety of Made-in-Yamanashi beers.
