Far Yeast Brewing × Black Tide Brewing "Off Trail Fortune and Glory" - Powerful acidity and red wine-like flavor from barrel aging - Release date: March 26th (Sat)

Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. has collaborated with Black Tide Brewing, a brewery in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, to release "Off Trail #22 Fortune and Glory," a traditional Belgian Flemish red-style beer, on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Pre-orders will begin on the official online store from 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 8.

■ Traditional Belgian Flemish red style

This first collaboration with Black Tide Brewing is an experimental beer that explores what can be achieved using only malt, hops, water, yeast, and bacteria, without any fruit or spice adjuncts. Paying homage to traditional Belgian sour beers, the Flanders Red style, a favorite of both brewers, is used.

Flanders Red Ale is an ale beer that has been produced in the Flanders region of Belgium for a long time. It is aged for a long time in oak barrels, during which the lactic acid bacteria that live in the barrels give it a unique sour taste. The aroma of the barrel and the astringency of the tannins also blend into the beer, resulting in a full-bodied flavor similar to red wine.

A barrel-aged sour ale with a powerful acidity and complex fruitiness.

Those unfamiliar with sour beer may be surprised by the taste of this beer. It starts with a powerful acidity, followed by a succession of flavors of pear, pineapple, prune, and raisin. This beer allows you to fully enjoy the rich flavor of barrel-aged beer, expressed using only minimal ingredients. We named it "Fortune and Glory" to evoke the image of an adventurer seeking unknown flavors encountering the deliciousness that awaits them. This beer is a must-try for fans of sour ales and barrel-aged beers, as well as those seeking a different beer experience.

This beer will continue to age in the bottle, developing even more depth over time. If you want to enjoy it immediately, decanting it and letting it air out will mellow out the acidity and make it more drinkable.

[What is Off Trail?]

"Off Trail" is a brand that was launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two brands "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast," and challenges new possibilities in craft beer. The name comes from the image of "Off Trail," which stands out from the "well-paved road" and forges ahead on an unpaved path. Utilizing microorganisms other than beer yeast, the brand creates unique beers with rich and complex flavors through barrel aging in wooden barrels. By blending seasonal fruits such as grapes and peaches, as well as regional specialties, the brand challenges itself with unique flavors that match the characteristics of the base beer.
