Atami Direct Store Yakiniku & Craft Beer Den Announcement of Resumption of Normal Business Hours
Share
Starting Thursday, August 19, 2021, Yakiniku & Craft Beer Den in Atami, Shizuoka will resume normal business hours with infection control measures in place.
■Background
A state of emergency was declared in Shizuoka Prefecture on Friday, August 20, 2021. The declaration itself is set to last until Sunday, September 12, but looking at past declarations and priority measures to prevent the spread of infection issued in the Tokyo metropolitan area and elsewhere, it is highly likely that the declaration will be extended or that requests for closures due to priority measures to prevent the spread of infection will continue. Under the previous priority measures to prevent the spread of infection, we were required to prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages until August 31, and our restaurant has been complying with this request. However, if similar measures continue after September, our revenue will deteriorate and we will no longer be able to continue our business.
Furthermore, many argue that requests for restaurants to shorten their hours or close down are not based on scientific evidence, and the repeated extensions of the state of emergency in the Tokyo metropolitan area and elsewhere without much effect are seen as proof of this. Our restaurant is extremely reluctant to continue following requests that have little scientific basis or effect in preventing the spread of infection.
■Business policy and our commitment
In this situation, rather than going out of business, we have chosen to continue fulfilling our original role.
Since our opening, we have been proud to contribute to society by providing enjoyment and enrichment to our customers' lives, even in a small way, through our yakiniku and craft beer. When the service of alcoholic beverages was suspended due to the priority measures to prevent the spread of infection, we saw many customers cancel their reservations and visits because they said, "If I can't drink alcohol...", and we felt very sorry that we were unable to meet the expectations of our customers.
We had serious doubts about resuming normal business operations under these circumstances, but as over 80% of our employees have been vaccinated and we have sufficient ventilation equipment for a yakiniku restaurant, we would like to fulfill our obligations to society by operating while taking thorough infection control measures.
Main infection control measures
- ・We will take customers' temperatures and refuse entry to anyone who is unwell or has a fever.
- ・When entering the store, customers will be asked to fill out their contact information to cooperate with epidemiological investigations in the unlikely event of an emergency. (This information will be managed appropriately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and will not be used for any purpose other than providing information to public health centers conducting epidemiological investigations.)
- ・Customers are also asked to wash their hands and disinfect their fingers thoroughly.
- ・Customers will be advised to wear masks except when eating or drinking.
- ・We will thoroughly manage the health of our employees, and wash and disinfect their hands.
