Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. will be commemorating the first anniversary of its innovative beer brand , Off Trail, with the release of "Percinnamon," a beer made with persimmon and spiced with cinnamon, on Friday, December 25th. Pre-orders will begin on the official online store from 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 3rd.

Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two major brands "Far Yeast" and "KAGUA," "Off Trail" is a brand that challenges new possibilities in craft beer. The name comes from the image of going "off trail" - a path that is not paved, setting itself apart from the "well-paved road." The brand brews unique beers using barrel-aging techniques, which involve aging beer in barrels previously used for wine, sake, and whiskey, as well as seasonal fruits such as grapes and peaches, and local specialties.

To celebrate the first anniversary of the brand's launch, the eighth release of "Off Trail," "Percinnamon," is a beer that brings together the various insights gained from past endeavors, such as barrel aging, the use of fruit, and blending.

In late autumn 2019, in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, where the brewery is located, the team began work on brewing a beer featuring dried persimmons, inspired by the persimmons that grow all over the village and herald the changing of the seasons. After much consideration, they chose cinnamon as the spice to best bring out the aroma of dried persimmons. However, the distinctive cinnamon aroma can sometimes be so strong that it overshadows the aroma of the beer, making it difficult to find the right balance, and creating a recipe was extremely challenging. After repeated trial and error, they tried a stout aged in whiskey barrels and achieved a wonderfully balanced blend. Ultimately, they blended three types of barrel-aged strong ale and a stout aged in whiskey barrels to create the fragrant "Percinnamon."

The aroma of cinnamon spice hits you immediately, followed by aromas of caramel, apricot, and raisins. One sip reveals a rich, warm flavor with hints of dried persimmon, chocolate, cinnamon spice, and tannins from the oak barrels.
This is a piece that can be enjoyed slowly in the warmth of a kotatsu on a cold winter's night, accompanied by roasted chestnuts and delicious cookies.

Pre-orders for the 750ml bottle of "Percinnamon" will begin on Thursday, December 3rd at 1pm on the online store, with shipments starting on Tuesday, December 15th. To commemorate the brand's first anniversary, products purchased on the online store will be delivered in a gift box, along with a letter detailing Off Trail's history and future plans.
It will be available at liquor stores and restaurants nationwide from Friday, December 25th.

Additionally, on December 5th (Sat) and 6th (Sun), two restaurants in Yamanashi will be hosting the "Off Trail 1st Anniversary Double Tap Takeover in Yamanashi," where you can try all of the "Off Trail" beers released to date. At this event, you can be among the first to try "Percinnamon."
