Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada; hereinafter referred to as "Our Company"), a craft beer maker that distributes original Japanese beers to the world, will release "KAGUA GIN" in mid-May. The gin is made using Far Yeast's popular product "KAGUA" as the base liquor. The gin was developed in collaboration with Kitaya Co., Ltd. (Head office: Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture; CEO: Kotaro Kinoshita; hereinafter referred to as "Kitaya"), a long-established sake and authentic shochu brewery in Fukuoka.
Kitaya, our partner, exports sake and other products to 17 countries around the world, including the United States. Our company also sells craft beer in over 20 countries, and our shared American import company (Wine of Japan Import Inc.) led to exchanges between the managers, which led to this cross-genre collaboration.
"KAGUA" is a series of ale beers based on the concept of "the scent of Japan," and uses the Japanese herbs sansho pepper and yuzu as ingredients. It is our core brand, which is also highly popular overseas.
The main spirit used in this new product, "KAGUA GIN," is "Kagua KAGUA Saison," which has a stronger yuzu aroma than any other product in the series. It is a high-quality base spirit, finished with plenty of botanicals. This craft gin offers fresh, fragrant yuzu and juniper berry flavors, as well as the mellow taste of hops and esters inherited from the original beer. It is a product that can be enjoyed by both craft beer and craft gin lovers.
Going forward, we will continue to provide original Japanese products to the world, creating new value that is unique to Japan, so that more customers can enjoy them.

What is KAGUA?
The original recipe (mixture) was conceived based on the concept of "a fragrance that complements the Japanese dining table," and is brewed at a partner brewery in Belgium using yuzu and sansho, herbs that are symbolic of Japan. The lineup includes three varieties: "Blanc," which uses wheat and has a gorgeous estery aroma and a fresh yuzu scent; "Rouge," which uses roasted malt and has a spicy sansho aroma and a fragrant malt scent; and "Saison," which has a fresh and fruity aroma. A major feature of these beers is that they can be enjoyed by pairing them with food, just like wine.
Our products are sold in famous and popular restaurants that have been awarded stars in the Michelin Guide, as well as luxury hotels and restaurants overseas.

About Kitaya Co., Ltd.
The company's name, "Kitaya," which embodies the desire to "communicate joy through sake," is at the core of its corporate philosophy, and its family motto, "The owner should brew the sake himself," has been followed to this day. Founded in 1820, the company is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. In 2013, Kitaya's Daiginjo Gokujo won the World Champion Sake award at the International Wine Challenge held in London.
In addition to sake, in 1973, with the aim of bringing Kyushu's authentic shochu to the world, we developed a "vacuum distillation method" in which the air pressure inside the still is reduced and the distillation temperature is about 45°C. This method made it possible to extract the aroma of the mash without destroying it with heat, revolutionizing the shochu industry and becoming a driving force behind the shochu boom. This distillation technology is also used in "KAGUA GIN".
