Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada) will simultaneously release two limited edition beers from its Japanese-style ale beer brand, KAGUA: "Blanc Cuvée Dry hopping" and "Rouge Special Edition 2019" from late October.
"KAGUA" is a craft beer brand based on the concept of "the scent of Japan," and is made with rare Japanese ingredients, Sansho pepper and Yuzu citrus, both of which are rare around the world. It features a firm body and soft carbonation achieved through secondary fermentation in the bottle. Since its release, it has been highly praised by many beer fans as a high-quality beer that is fresh and full of originality.
The new releases are a special saison called "Blanc Cuvée Dry hopping," which combines three types of hops with "KAGUA Blanc," and a limited-edition "Rouge Special Edition 2019," which is a specially brewed beer made by further aging "KAGUA Rouge."
About Blanc Cuvée Dry hopping
Based on "KAGUA Blanc," this brew employs the mixed culture technique, fermenting with two or more different yeasts. By using two Belgian yeasts, including a saison, it achieves a more complex aroma than a single yeast brew. This special saison combines three hop varieties: "Mosaic," which offers a complex blend of passion fruit notes and a variety of aromas, including citrus, berry, and herbs; "Simcoe," which offers a fruity, earthy, and pine-like aroma; and "Chinook," which offers grapefruit-like citrus, pine, and spice aromas. This brew is drier than our standard Blanc to allow the dry-hopped aroma to shine through. The moment you sip, you'll enjoy the rich aroma that fills your mouth.About Rouge Special Edition 2019
This is the fourth limited edition brew, following the 2013 and 2017 Rouges and the 2018 Blanc. By increasing the proportion of dark malt this time, the brewery achieves a deeper color and a more prominent malt flavor than previous Special Editions. While retaining the originality of "KAGUA," the beer style is an authentic Belgian-style quadruple * . Not only does it further mature the regular "KAGUA Rouge" for a more mellow flavor, but the addition of oak powder in addition to the aromas of Japanese pepper and malt creates a variety of aromas, including oak and fragrant aromas. Furthermore, its distinctive high alcohol content and full body make it the perfect pairing with meat dishes.Going forward, we will continue to create new value by commercializing various ideas and sharing them with the world so that more customers can enjoy them.
*Quadrupel
The sugar content of the wort before fermentation is about four times the initial gravity of a single malt, resulting in a full-bodied beer with a high alcohol content of 9.1-14.2%.
