Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada; hereafter referred to as "Far Yeast Brewing") will open "Far Yeast Tokyo ~Craft Beer & Bao" in Shibuya 2-chome in late July 2017.
This store is the company's first directly operated store, where you can enjoy the "KAGUA" series, which is currently sold in 13 countries around the world, and the "Far Yeast Tokyo wo Kanaderu" series on tap at all times.
In preparation for the store's opening, a support project will be launched today, May 31st, on CyberAgent, Inc.'s crowdfunding site, "Makuake."
[Store concept]
Based on the two main concepts of "Far Yeast Brewing's craft beer" and "Japanese-style Bao," the bar offers Far Yeast Brewing's flagship brands, "KAGUA" and the "Far Yeast" series, on tap at all times, as well as "Bao" created using ingredients and cooking methods unique to Japan. During the day, it is envisioned as a cafe for people working in the surrounding area, or for takeout lunches, and in the evening it will be a bar where adults gather to enjoy craft beer.[Food concept]
Their signature dish is the Bao, which is popular in London and New York. As the Chinese character for "wrap" suggests, this Asian hamburger-like dish is made with a fluffy Chinese steamed bun-like dough and various fillings. As part of the planning for a Far Yeast Brewing outlet, I met Bao during a business trip to London, New York, Hong Kong, and other places while thinking about an original menu to pair with craft beer. Bao, which pairs well with a variety of ingredients and can be easily adapted, has evolved in its own way and become popular in each country. Just like beer, we are considering expanding overseas, and we wanted to provide new value that would please people overseas, so we arrived at "Japanese-style Bao."All dishes are produced by Discovery Co., Ltd., the company behind popular Japanese restaurants such as "Shokkan" (Shibuya) and "Iito eat" (Azabu Juban). In addition to the flagship menu item Bao, guests can enjoy seasonal menus produced by "Shokkan" head chef Kaneko and "Iito eat" head chef Ezawa.
[Store details]
Store name: Far Yeast Tokyo ~Craft Beer & Bao Address: 1F Sala Aoyama, 2-6-8 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo Access: 6 minutes on foot from Shibuya Station, 8 minutes on foot from Omotesando Station Business hours: 12:00-23:00 (planned) Seating: 30-40 seats (including standing) From Shiro Yamada, CEO of Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd.: "Miki from Discovery and Tajima from Alias, who helped produce this store, are the same age as me, but I have the utmost respect for them. I couldn't be more excited to team up with them to open a store."
"KAGUA," which is based on the concept of "perfect for the Japanese dining table," and "Far Yeast," which has begun in-house brewing, are both craft beers that are full of passion. When opening a directly managed store, we wanted to offer food that was just as carefully crafted as the beer, so we gave careful thought to the development of the food menu, and we were extremely particular about both the fillings and the dough of our bao.
We will definitely make it a fun store. Thank you for your support!
◼Mr. Miki Sato, CEO of Discovery Inc. (Far Yeast Tokyo ~ Craft Beer & Bao Food Production)
The most important thing to me in this job is to entertain people.
When Yamada-san approached me about the opportunity, the first thing that came to my mind was that I wanted to work with Far Yeast to create a restaurant that would "entertain people," just like Discovery. I've mainly worked on Japanese cuisine up until now, but trying my hand at Chinese bao will be a new challenge. I would like to create a new bao that reflects the unique style of Discovery and blend it with the world of Far Yeast. I would appreciate your support.
◼ From Nobuhiro Tajima, Representative of Alias LLC (Far Yeast Tokyo ~ Craft Beer & Bao Store Direction)
When Yama-chan (Yamada Shiro) asked me to direct the store, I was honestly happy to think that we would be able to work together. And when I met Discovery's Miki, who Yama-chan introduced me to, I was instantly captivated by him (lol).
I sometimes wonder if I'm the right person to be in this amazing team, but I'm excited from the start to be working with two people I respect. I hope to be able to spread the word and express it not only to Japan but to the whole world from Far Yeast Tokyo. I can't wait for everyone to enjoy the world of "Craft Beer & Bao" that Far Yeast Brewing has created.
In addition, in preparation for the store opening, a crowdfunding project will be launched on CyberAgent, Inc.'s crowdfunding site "Makuake."
