"Kriek in the Barrel" was first released in 2019 in collaboration with Culmination Brewing, a brewery in Portland, Oregon, and won a bronze medal at the Asia Beer Championship 2019. Every product released since has won a medal at international competitions, and the product is gaining global acclaim.
In addition, the previous product, "Kriek in the Barrel 2023," won an award in the fruit beer category at the Japan Brewers Cup 2024, one of Japan's largest craft beer competitions, and is attracting attention domestically as a product representative of the Off Trail brand.

This year's blending was completed successfully, and the first "Off Trail Kriek in the Barrel 2024" since the label renewal has been completed. The label design follows the motif from before the renewal, to evoke the funky "Off Trail" finish that comes from barrel aging and blending, inherited from previous works.
Kriek is a barrel-aged sour ale with the acidity, funkiness, and complex flavor that only barrel aging can provide . Originally a Belgian beer style, it is a fruit sour ale made by adding sour cherries to naturally fermented lambic beer. Our "Kriek in the Barrel" is inspired by traditional Kriek, but is brewed using original methods.
This new release , "Kriek in the Barrel 2024," is a barrel-aged sour ale made by blending a base beer made from lactic-fermented red ale wort using kettle souring with Brettanomyces yeast, then fermenting and aging it for 12 months in red wine oak barrels. Cherry juice is then added for a secondary in-bottle fermentation. It features a complex aroma, including the funky notes of Brettanomyces, the sweet and sour notes of cherry, and the caramel notes from the wooden barrels. The flavor is a deep, refreshing blend of acidity and a funky, leathery note. Pour into a glass and gradually raise the temperature as you sip, allowing the unique aroma and flavor to become more apparent.
