Aged for up to 27 months! Barrel Aged Sour Ale is based on Sour Red Ale and Sour Blonde Ale and combines blueberry, raspberry, cranberry and griotte puree.
-Brewer's note- A blend of Sour Red Ale and Sour Blonde Ale, aged between 15 and 27 months. When I considered which secondary ingredients would balance the acidity well, I came to the conclusion that berries would be good, and discovered that the combination of blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and griottes was so good that I really liked it. The cranberry and griotte flavor has a leathery tannin, likely derived from the griotte, that adds depth to the blend, making the somewhat one-dimensional acidity of the other berries more three-dimensional. Although there is a hint of vinegar in the background, the powerful flavor of the berries is balanced enough to give it a sense of complexity.
