Asia Beer Championship 2023 Wild Specialty Beer Category: Bronze Award

Off Trail, a brand that challenges itself with innovative beer brewing, will be releasing a limited edition Off Trail Upstream, its first collaboration with VERTERE (Batere, headquarters: Okutama-cho, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo; CEO: Hikaru Suzuki), from Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

■ Upstream and downstream of Lake Okutama. First collaboration with VERTERE, brewed with the same water source.
Far Yeast Brewing in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi, and VERTERE in Okutama, Tokyo, are located on either side of Lake Okutama, upstream or downstream of the Tama River. This marks the first collaboration between these two breweries, both of which brew beer using water from the same source.
As a cross-collaboration, Far Yeast Brewing will simultaneously release a collaborative beer named "Upstream" and VERTERE will simultaneously release a collaborative beer named "Amni," which is Latin for "Downstream." The label design is also designed to connect the image of upstream to downstream when the two beers are placed side by side.

■A barrel-aged sour blonde with a subtle floral aroma
"Off Trail Upstream" is a barrel-aged sour blonde with a floral aroma . It will be released by "Off Trail," a brand committed to innovative beer brewing utilizing microorganisms.
The base beer was selected in collaboration with VERTERE's brewers, taking into consideration the balance of acidity. It is a blend of a sour blonde ale aged for up to 21 months in oak barrels and a strong ale. To complement the honey-like aroma of the base beer, dried flowers were used as secondary ingredients to add a floral aroma. The base beers were each infused with three types of dried flowers: jasmine, red clover, and meadowsweet, and the flavor was perfected by adjusting the ratios.
The aroma and flavor of this brew is a pleasant mix of jasmine and other floral notes, honey, mild acidity, and earthy notes. As the temperature rises, the flavor changes moment by moment, like a river flowing upstream, and a funky flavor emerges.

"Off Trail Upstream" will be available for purchase in limited quantities on the Far Yeast Brewing official web store from 12:00 on Tuesday, July 25th . Purchases made on the official web store will be shipped sequentially from Wednesday, July 26th to beer bars, restaurants, and liquor stores nationwide.

"Amni," brewed at VERTERE , will be available for purchase from Wednesday, July 26th. Please contact VERTERE for more information.

[What is Off Trail?]

Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to the two brands "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast," "Off Trail" is a brand that explores new possibilities in craft beer. Its name comes from the image of forging ahead on unpaved roads, setting itself apart from well-paved roads. The beer is brewed using the barrel-aging method, whereby beer is aged in barrels previously used for wine, sake, and whiskey, in order to develop rich and complex aromas by utilizing microorganisms other than brewer's yeast. The brand explores unique flavors by blending seasonal fruits such as grapes and peaches, as well as regional specialties, to match the characteristics of the base beer.
