Far Yeast Brewing collaborates with mountaineering app "Yamap" to release "Craft Beer for Drinking in the Mountains" on Makuake starting February 25th (Friday)
Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Far Yeast Brewing") has collaborated with YAMAP Inc. (hereinafter "YAMAP") , the operator of the mountaineering map GPS app "YAMAP," to develop "Beer for Mountains Summit 1," a craft beer created with the ultimate goal of being enjoyed by mountain lovers in the mountains. The beer will be available for purchase on the support site "Makuake" from Friday, February 25, 2022.

A glass of beer at the top of a mountain. For lovers of mountain climbing and beer, there is no greater reward. So, we collaborated with Yamappu, the company that runs the mountain map GPS app familiar to mountain climbers, and our company, which is made up of passionate outdoor enthusiasts, including our CEO. We decided to develop and sell a completely new "craft beer that you'll want to drink in the mountains."
Our company, which has a brewery in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, located at the source of the Tama River, is developing a business rooted in the local community while living in harmony with nature, and Yamappu, based in Fukuoka, is working to connect the mountain environment and the culture of enjoying the mountains to the future. Both companies share a passion for the blessings of nature, which is why this collaboration has come to fruition.
■What kind of beer would you like to drink in the mountains?
In search of the ultimate drink to enjoy in the mountains, Yamappu and our company representatives conducted repeated tastings and discussions over a period of five months. Five members from both companies actually climbed Mount Ohira in Yamanashi Prefecture and conducted a real mountaintop tasting. Sweaty and feeling pleasantly tired, they chose a flavor that would truly taste good in the mountains, surrounded by the mountain air and aromas.
The result is "Beer for Mountains Summit 1," an American pale ale made with seven types of hops. It boasts complex aromas of orange, flowers, and herbs, and a light finish at 4.7% alcohol. It blends perfectly with the mountain air and aromas, making it even more delicious in the natural surroundings. Designed for consumption in the mountains, the alcohol content has also been kept low, ensuring it pairs well with salty food.
The packaging has a strong alpine feel, with a motif of the scenery seen from Mt. Mantaro on the main mountain range of Mt. Tanigawa. When you take it out of your backpack at the top of the mountain and pour it into a glass, the rich golden beer will sparkle in the sunlight, creating a visually special moment.
The name "Summit 1" reflects the hope that this will become a long-lasting project with a second and third instalment. This beer is refreshing and easy to drink, with a fragrance reminiscent of the mountains. It is recommended not only as a companion for mountain climbing, but also as a drink to enjoy at home while reminiscing about the mountains.
"Beer for Mountains Summit 1" will go on sale on Makuake from Friday, February 25th, with freshly brewed beer scheduled to be delivered in late April.
