Far Yeast Brewing, a brand that challenges itself with innovative beer brewing, has collaborated with Portland, Oregon brewery Culmination Brewing to create "Off Trail #20 Kriek in the Barrel 2022." The beer will be released to the public on Thursday, January 20, 2022, with advance sales starting at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 11 on the official online store.
■ The third installment of the globally acclaimed "Kriek in the Barrel"
"Kriek in the Barrel," a collaboration with Culmination Brewing, a brewery in Portland, Oregon, was first released in 2019 and won the Asia Beer Championship in the same year.
The second edition, released in February 2021, won the bronze medal at the Asia Beer Championship.
It won the gold medal at the 2021 Beer Awards and also won the silver medal at the European Beer Star 2021.
This year marks the third time this product has been brewed, and like the previous two, it is a collaboration with Culmination Brewing.
"Kriek in the Barrel 2022" is a barrel-aged sour ale with a rich, fruity flavor and the deep flavor of barrel aging . It is made by adding Brettanomyces yeast to red ale wort that has been lactically fermented through kettle souring, and then fermenting and aging it in oak barrels for 17 months, followed by cherries. The woody aroma and acidity of the barrel aging combine to create a complex flavor profile.
A beautiful garnet red in the glass, the aroma of red wine vinegar, fresh red cherry, and rose spreads, blending with gentle cherry acidity and the funky leathery notes unique to barrel-aged wines, finishing dry and fruity.
Its light-bodied yet fruity flavor pairs perfectly with steak, mushrooms, and grilled chicken.
Kriek is a Belgian beer style, a fruit sour ale made by adding cherry to naturally fermented lambic beer. "Kriek in the Barrel" is inspired by traditional Kriek, but is brewed with originality. It has received international acclaim and will be released annually as a winter seasonal.
"Kriek in the Barrel 2022" will be released nationwide on Thursday, January 20th, and on our online store on January 11th.
Pre-orders will begin on Tuesday, December 13th at 1:00 PM.

Launched in November 2019 as a follow-up to Far Yeast Brewing's two major brands, "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast," "Off Trail" is a brand that explores new possibilities in craft beer. The name comes from the image of "Off Trail," a path that departs from the "well-paved road" and forges ahead.
