Off Trail's 5th release: Passion fruit-scented barrel-aged beer "Saigon Fervor" is now available in limited quantities
Share
Off Trail, a new brand that is challenging itself with innovative beer brewing, has released a limited edition product called Saigon Fervor.
This barrel-aged beer is based on "Saigon Passion," a collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City brewery "Heart of Darkness," and is made with Vietnamese passion fruit added and aged in oak barrels previously used to age sake.
This is the fifth Off Trail release, and this time we focused on barrels.
The oak barrels used for aging sake are used. The base beer, "Saigon Passion," a sour beer made with passion fruit, is placed in the barrel and subjected to primary fermentation using the wild yeast Brettanomyces. Vietnamese passion fruit is then added and the beer is left to ferment and age for an additional six months in the oak barrel.
The refreshing acidity of passion fruit blends with the aroma of oak barrel tannins to create a fruity barrel-aged sour ale with a mellow acidity and complex flavor.
Enjoy the rich flavor of Saigon Fervor, a barrel-aged beer that is a little different from Saigon Passion.
