限定醸造「Oath of the Peach Garden」を発売

Limited edition "Oath of the Peach Garden" released

Far Yeast Brewing will release its limited edition beer, "Oath of the Peach Garden," on Friday, April 17, 2020.

Oath of the Peach Garden is a blend of three wheat ales: Peach Weiß, a collaboration with Yatsugatake Brewery; Japanese Grape Saison, a collaboration with Edge Brewing Project; and our Tokyo White, which is infused with osmanthus. These beers are aged for up to 18 months in wooden barrels previously used for whiskey and wine making.

This barrel-aged beer was created through repeated blending and tasting, checking the beer's maturation . The sweet aroma of peach and flowers spreads softly, while the woody aroma from barrel aging and the flavor of whiskey add depth to the flavor. The result is a light-tasting beer with a gentle acidity, floral aroma, and a hint of fruitiness.

[A beer with a rich aroma]

Oath of the Peach Garden is a beer whose aroma changes after being poured into a glass, just like wine. With wine, the aroma is generally described as "opening up," meaning that exposing the wine to air makes it smoother and allows hidden aromas to emerge. Immediately after pouring, Oath of the Peach Garden has a faint sulfurous odor, but by leaving it for a while or swirling the glass to allow the beer to air out, this odor fades and a fruity aroma gradually emerges.

[Origin of the name Oath of the Peach Garden]

"Oath of the Peach Garden" is named after the story in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" in which the protagonists Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei swear an oath of brotherhood. Inspired by the spirit of brotherhood, this name was chosen with the intention of uniting us all in this time of global hardship. Enjoy the mellow flavor of this trinity of peach, whiskey, and osmanthus .
