Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada) will release "3 Funkeys," a blend of three barrel-aged beers, from its new brand "Off Trail," which challenges innovative beer brewing, on Tuesday, December 24th.
This time, we attempted to brew a product based on a Belgian-style strong ale, highlighting the complex flavors achieved through the use of wild yeast Brettanomyces and oak barrel aging.
This blend features three distinct strong ales, each enhanced by Brettanomyces, aged for 11 months in red wine barrels. The three distinct beers—one with a fruity aroma reminiscent of cherry pie, one with a smoky, flavorful taste, and one with a rich, tannic flavor—are blended to create a funky yet well-balanced beer.
This is a must-try product for beer fans, as well as those who enjoy naturally fermented wild beers and barrel-aged beers.
