[Press Release] Enjoy climbing and craft beer! "Far Yeast Climbing Club" launched

Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada) is launching the Far Yeast Climbing Club to create opportunities for more people to enjoy climbing and craft beer.
On Wednesday, June 15th, 2016, we will be holding the "Far Yeast Climbing Club Kick-Off Event."

The purpose of starting the club

Among the various types of climbing, indoor bouldering has a low barrier to entry that makes it easy for anyone to get started, and it is a sport that has seen an increase in enthusiasts in recent years due to its depth, requiring not only muscle and arm strength but also flexibility and strategy. We have cooperated with and sponsored numerous competitions held by climbing gyms. Furthermore, in the summer of 2015, we released a climbing-themed craft beer called "Far Yeast First Ascent IPA," and have been focusing on projects that combine climbing and craft beer. The Far Yeast Climbing Club aims to encourage more people to try climbing and enjoy it for a long time by providing an environment where people can casually enjoy sports and beer on weekday evenings as part of regular club activities.

Message from Representative Director Shiro Yamada

I've always thought that free climbing and craft beer go hand in hand. Both are movements that originated on the American West Coast in the latter half of the last century. Free climbing developed as an antithesis to aid climbing (artificial climbing), and craft beer developed as an antithesis to the industrial beer made by major manufacturers. Both share a commonality in their pursuit of a more natural, human style. Therefore, free climbing and craft beer should be able to share common values. I believe that the exhilaration of overcoming difficulties and completing a route is very similar to the bitter taste of beer and the subsequent refreshing feeling. Through the Far Yeast Climbing Club, I would like to create opportunities for more people to enjoy both climbing and craft beer.

- Join the beginners' session hosted by the gym (scheduled separate sessions for advanced members will be considered) - Cheers with beer after the climb! - In the future, we are considering organizing outdoor rock climbing experiences.

Location: Fish and Bird Climbing Gym (7-4-12 Toyo, Koto-ku, Tokyo)
Target audience: Anyone interested in climbing and craft beer, especially beginners, can participate. Non-members are also welcome to join.
*[First-time membership bonus] Those who join the Far Yeast Climbing Club at the Kick-Off event in June will receive a souvenir beer (Far Yeast Tokyo Blonde Export).
*Please note that a separate facility usage fee will be charged for use of the climbing gym, as specified by the gym.

From July 2016, we plan to hold activities on the third Wednesday of every month starting at around 7:00 PM.
