Far Yeast Tokyo Blonde and Tokyo White beers won gold, silver and bronze awards at the International Beer Cup 2015.
At the awards ceremony held at Beer Fest Yokohama 2015 on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015 (national holiday), the gold, silver, and bronze awards for each beer style were announced, with Japanese craft beer "Far Yeast" Tokyo White (7th edition) winning the "Gold Award" in the "Free-Style Light Ale" bottle/can category and the "Silver Award" in the keg category, and "Far Yeast" Tokyo Blonde (9th edition) winning the "Bronze Award" in the "Free-Style Light Lager" bottle/can category.
The International Beer Cup has been held since 1996 and is one of the world's five major beer competitions. A judging panel consisting of international and domestic judges from around 20 countries conducts rigorous tastings to determine the winners of 104 styles in two categories: bottle/can and keg (cask) beers. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded for each style. In 2015, judges from Japan and abroad judged 355 brands from 98 breweries in 13 countries.
Far Yeast evolves its flavor by adjusting its recipe with each brew. The award-winning Tokyo Blonde 9th Edition and Tokyo White 7th Edition are both the latest editions. Tokyo Blonde 9th Edition is dry-hopped with the New Zealand hop Rakau and a blend of hops, Falconer's Flight, while Tokyo White 7th Edition is dry-hopped with the popular Citra hop.
