Nippon Craft Beer Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada) will release a limited edition brew, "First Ascent IPA," from its craft beer brand "Far Yeast" on Saturday, September 26, 2015.
Up until now, the Far Yeast series has released limited edition "Belgian IPA" style beers, but this "First Ascent IPA" will be a refreshing "American IPA" style beer that brings hop aroma and flavor to the forefront. The main aroma hop used will be the "Waimiya" variety from New Zealand, which is still rare in Japan, and the beer will be a new type of IPA full of originality.
The product name "First Ascent" means "first ascent" in Japanese, which refers to the first ascent of a route that no one has climbed before in climbing or mountaineering. The image of challenging uncharted territory and overcoming difficulties to achieve success is superimposed on the refreshing, bitter IPA style.
The product will first be shipped in barrels. A release event will be held at Fish and Bird, a climbing gym in Koto Ward, Tokyo, on the barrel release date of Saturday, September 26th.
Bottle shipments are scheduled to begin in mid-October, and pre-orders for bottled products will begin today on the official store page. The bottle label will feature a climbing silhouette of Yasuma Sachi, a leading Japanese professional free climber who has won the overall championship at the IFSC Climbing World Cup. It is characterized by a strong bitterness, a high body (alcohol content), and a satisfying taste. This style is popular among craft beer enthusiasts, especially in the United States, which leads the global craft beer market.

About Far Yeast
Established in April 2014, this brand was born from the desire to "create a beer that can spread the appeal of Tokyo, a world-renowned craft beer company, to the world." It is Japan Craft Beer Co., Ltd.'s second brand, following "KAGUA."
Based on the theme of "Tokyo," a vibrant city that evolves daily while blending tradition and cutting-edge technology, the beer is brewed at a domestic contract brewery using an original recipe. Three types are available: the lager-style "Tokyo Blonde," the saison-style "Tokyo White," and the lager-style "Tokyo Blonde - Export," an export version.
About Japan Craft Beer Co., Ltd.
Their mission is to "Democratize beer" - to "restore the diversity and richness of beer, which has become a standardized mass-produced product due to industrialization." They operate two craft beer brands: "KAGUA," a Japanese-style fragrant ale, and "Far Yeast," a Tokyo-themed brand, and are promoting unique beers to the world.
