Far Yeast Brewing's third directly operated store, "BEERHOLIC," a collaboration with Fukuoka craft beer specialty liquor store BEERSONIC, will pre-open on May 1st.
Far Yeast Brewing Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shiro Yamada; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), a craft beer maker that distributes original Japanese beers to the world, will pre-open its third directly operated store, " BEERHOLIC," in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City on Monday, May 1, 2020, in collaboration with BEERSONIC (Fukuoka, Fukuoka City; CEO: Seigo Fukahori), a craft beer specialty store in Fukuoka City.
The store is scheduled to have its grand opening as a beer bar on Monday, June 1st, but will first begin operating as a retailer selling our beers as well as craft beers selected from around the world.
BEERHOLIC was originally scheduled to have its grand opening on Friday, April 24th, with the concept of "Drink and To Do," and with 18 taps, one of the largest in Kyushu, allowing customers to enjoy craft beer on tap at all times, as well as takeaway bottles. However, in light of the spread of COVID-19, the plan has been changed. Instead, the store will open first as a bottle shop offering a wide selection of craft beer for takeout.
In addition to our standard "KAGUA" and "Far Yeast" series beers and limited edition brews, the store offers a lineup of approximately 70 types of carefully selected craft beer from around the world. From this wide range of unique craft beers, you're sure to find your favorite to brighten up your time at home.
You can also purchase "KAGUA GIN," a gin distilled from beer, which will be released in mid-May. "KAGUA GIN" was jointly developed by our company and Kitaya, a long-established sake and shochu brewery in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is a craft gin that uses "Kaguwa KAGUA" as its main liquor, and has a gorgeous yuzu aroma.
■Background to opening the Fukuoka store
BEERHOLIC is located in the heart of Fukuoka City's sports and culture, just a one-minute walk from Ohori Park, a beloved park among locals. The nearest station, Ohori Park Station, is conveniently located 10 minutes from Hakata Station and 15 minutes from Fukuoka Airport Station on the Fukuoka Municipal Subway.
Fukuoka City is attracting attention as the city with the most rapid economic growth in Japan, recording the highest population growth rate, youth population ratio, business start-up rate, and youth entrepreneurship rate among all designated cities (Note 1) . It is also ranked fourth in the world for the number of restaurants per 1,000 people (Note 2) , after Tokyo, Paris, and Milan, boasting a food culture on par with some of the world's leading food capitals. Our company has had its eye on Fukuoka City and the surrounding area for some time, and has been preparing to open a directly operated store there. This has now been realized with the cooperation of BEERSONIC, a leading local craft beer specialty store.
In addition, the store is completely cashless, accepting payments via various credit cards and QR code payments.

Now that beer culture is beginning to take root in Fukuoka, we have decided to start a new project with Far Yeast Brewing.
Ohori Park and its surrounding area are home to some of the best running spots in Kyushu, a domed baseball stadium, an art museum, and many great shops, making it a popular area for both tourists and Fukuoka residents.
BEERHOLIC is not just a place to serve beer, but a hyper beer space that will spread new culture in this active and creative city. I'm sure it will become a wonderful place.
We have been having several meetings with Far Yeast Brewing to determine when the store will open.
We considered postponing the opening of the liquor sales department, but we decided to start with the liquor sales department, as we believe that BEERSONIC's current mission is to keep alive the beer culture that we have built in Fukuoka together with Far Yeast Brewing, and to create an everyday life where everyone can enjoy beer and relax at home.
